Revises curriculum based on assessment of program outcomes, learner needs and societal and health care trends
Wound care using the wound vac was added to the curriculum reflecting changes in research of the treatment of wounds.

The revolution of wound care began approximately ten years ago with the invention of the Wound Vac; primarily being used in rehab and in the home care setting on wounds recalcitrant to treatment in the hospital setting.  Today, we see the wound vac as the vanguard in wound care therapy beginning to repair skin before the patient leaves the Operating Room. The KCI representative brought this article to share with the students during a guest lecturer visit.  The wound vac was presented to the students and they were allowed to practice the art of application to a simulated wound.  This lecture will be added to the curriculum for the coming year. As a result of the lecture, KCI products useful to student learning have been donated to the University.
